May 20th, 2010 No comments

Reed dance is a type of huge festival that takes place every year in the beginning of September month. In this festival, Swazis and Zulus assemble in their land in Africa and enjoy. This festival is regarded as the arrival of spring season. This festival is very amazing from tourist’s and visitor’s point of view. It is associated with huge gratification that includes dancing, music, singing, intonation, conventional attire, illuminations with surrounding brightness, huge smiling atmosphere, munchies and snacks along with some hilarity and amusement.

Virginity is more emphasized as is symbolizes the purity of character and thought along with some innocence. Virgins are mostly found to be participating in this dance because of this reason only. Also numbers of youth beautiful girls used to participate in this dance and crowned head or what we call as a king of that location pick out any of the girl from the crowd during the festival and then continue wooing. However, that picked up girl has a right to decline the king’s order but this is equivalent to disobey king’s order and rule and hence this is not entertained in his dynasty.

One of the biggest feature and specialty of this dance festival is that, none of the girl is enforced to participate in the dance. However it is only way to show their virginity to the entire world but then also putting any sort of pressure on the girls is not at all encouraged. In fact the daughter of the local king do participate in this dance is found to be virgin.
