There are also some rules attached to this festival is that one has to squash the tomatoes before throwing it to other and are also not allowed to throw anything other than tomatoes.

In this festival total quantity of about 125,000 thousand kilos of ripe tomatoes are squashed and thrown. All the people who are taking part are requested to wear safety goggle along with gloves. This event continues for an hour and comes to an end when the water cannon are fired up to stop it and no tomatoes were thrown at that point.

The Tampa Bay Caribbean Carnival dates are June 12th & 13th, 2010 at the Vinoy Park in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida and celebrate its 18th year.
