New York Labor Day Carnival

This is the 42nd anniversary of the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (W.I.D.C.A). It is also called Labour Day Carnival. Carnival this year will began on 3rd September and will last on 7th September 2009 and this time the blast will be more enjoyable.
WIDCA this year is going to join hands with the American cancer society and the Census bureau of US. The theme for this year’s carnival is “Jump for cure, Jump up and be counted”. This is an effort from WIDCA to get the common peoples have their cancer check up regularly.
The event is going to show the natural culture of the Caribbean society and the heritage of the Caribbean in New York. The grand guests for the evening are the State Governor of New York Mr. David A. Paterson, General Colin L. Powell, Mark Cornell etc. the ribbon cutting ceremony will be done just after the breakfast of the VIP persons is over, and it will be done by the president of WIDCA Yolanda Lezama-Clark and they will join this ceremony with the mayor of the city Michael Bloomberg and the governor of the city will also join them in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Lots of entertainers will be present in the ceremony including some of the most famous Caribbean band and the Kaiso super stars will also be there to entertain the crowd. There will be a lot of competitions and the competition for the king and the queen of the band.
About a million visitors will come to attend the carnival and this time the expectation is even greater than the previous year. Let us all hope that the carnival becomes an unforgettable experience for the visitors.




Wow , it is Labor Day! I’m happy with my extra day off, and I am planning to doing something fun that will probably involve a car trip and seeing something new in River Vale I haven’t seen yet.
