March 19th, 2011 No comments

Samba, a dance form that has taken over the world dance stage by storm is liked and loved by literally all who love to dance and enjoy. Tracing its origin to words Angola Mesemba, the dance moves are characteristic of gender. While the females are indulged in belly bumps, males complement their partners, thus giving it a picture perfect look. This couple dance form has now spread its root to the entire planet.

Samba, a patent of Brazil, dates back its start to the slavery days. A dance form that emerged out of the rebellious attitude that natives had towards police, became more acceptable than the usual violence. Samba music also links its origin quite similar to the dance form. Slaves made this dance form gain ample popularity that it enjoys even today. An attractive dance form, whose popularity spread like wildfire was for the first time recorded in 1917 as ‘Pelo Telefon’.

Samba, which topped the dance form till 1960, was later overshadowed by hip-hop and disco. But, showing no signs of slowing down, it made a return and this time with a huge BANG. The new variation, which was somehow restrained was deciphered Pagudo.

What now makes news is the incorporation of the wild, sensuous, crazy samba dance moves in the Rio Carnival. Rio carnival, which describes the most awaited events in Brazil, is a treat for all who love to get drenched in music, dance and fun. With many performances of professional style dancers with Samba Dance moves, this event is sure set to make all moves and groove with the beats.

‘Carnivals are not just the same with Samba’, is not just a statement, but a reality, which can sure bring out the passion from within all, making them dance wildly while participating fully in the acts. Rio Carnival is one such ideal place to get drenched in the magical wildness of SAMBA!

Fun at the maximum, with nuns and samba bands rocking the Rio streets at the Carnival opening

March 6th, 2011 No comments

The festive spirit on the first day of carnival in Rio Brazil, which was not damped with the little rainy weather, was on the hype. Rather, nuns were in panties, some in moustaches and the other enjoying the party and the gathering with their unusual patterns of life which left the rod hot all over the city. Millions of people filled the space of Rio in between who are busy in dancing and gyrating on the local and pop tunes. This was really a scintillating view for the whole world. The security was kept tight and the officers were prepared to tackle any unprecedented event or incident at the carnival. All the major groups who registered in the mayor’s office were ready for the dancing party, fully merged in the enjoyment of life without bothering about the rules and their tensions. The passion was just intimate and the joy was fully awesome here in the carnival. It was all the day and night covered with the dancing bands and the groups were parading in a style which was never seen before.

Pop music and the samba dance fully covered the streets of the city where nearly 8 millions of tourists, foreigners and the visitors joined the extravaganza along with the six millions of local Brazilians. It was really a festive season which refreshed the mood of people with the samba music and the nuns, dancing in their unexpected modes. So, the tradition and the ancient culture were kept with the modernity at the closest end that made the Carmelitas nuns dance and sing t the samba music. It was all the fun with the amazing and expensive costumes on the show all over the streets of Rio de Janeiro. It was expected that at least $5 million was spend only on the costumes and cosmetic items which has its own brilliant record for this time.

The tradition of the city carnival was on the full evolution where the recent trends of dancing, dresses and the cosmetics made it more enriched and superb in the sense that it covered the busy streets with thousands of parading groups and singing bands. The band groups have some peculiar names based on the roots or geographical location such as “Suvaco de Cristo” which literally means “The Armpit of Christ”. Apart from these flavors in the event, viewers witnessed unlimited laughs with some overdoes of words which totally ramped the singing groups and samba bands. It was chilling, cool and enjoyment was at the apex here!
