Rio de Janeiro is a famous tourist spot. Rio de Janeiro means the “River of January”. Between 1763-1822, it was the capital of Brazil under Portuguese colony. Rio de Janeiro was an independent state from 1763 to 1822. It is famous for its beach resorts and the carnival. Rio de Janeiro is well connected with other Brazilian cities. It has an International Airport, Galeao-Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport, which connects Rio de Janeiro to other parts of the world.
