St. Maarten Carnival Sets off on 16 April 2009
St. Maarten gets a taste of superstardom as April 16th arrives. For the next 18 days, it is enough to fend for itself; what with endless joy and chivalry unleashing every other moment.

Right from its opening ceremony on the 16th, the mood will be glowing. There will be queen and teen shows to set the tempo afloat. There is loads of skin on display and the best is crowned the queen in different age groups. That is just the start.
22nd and 23rd are days meant for youthful brashness. They will dance and carouse and have the entire stage set for them to call the shots. It is only on 24th that girls invade and how!

Then the show will take a breather and get a bit sedate till 28th. Then it returns with full swing and a sea of floating bodies in all colors. J’ouvert shows are meant to be just that. And they drive you crazy. .
30th and 1st are slated for Grand parade and Labors Day Parade. There will be ear splitting music and lots of dance on and off the streets. Final two days are what define the carnival.
On Saturday the 2nd, Soca will be soaking the entire St. Maarten in its deafening sounds. The socaphiles have their own of enjoying the nights. The flourishing attendance will have no moment of boredom as they negotiate the carnival.
The final day (4th May) will takes the cake with lovers’ celebration expected in full speed. There will be lots of kissing seen as proposals bounce from one end to other. The feeling will take long to sink in.
