St. Maarten carnival will be held from April 25 to May 2, 2011 in St. Maarten which is situated in the Caribbean. Events related to the carnival will commence from March 19. This includes jump up, a junior road march, and junior queen pageant and calypso show.
The theme of the carnival this year is ‘Country St. Maarten Fettin.’ On 26 April, there will be senior pageant for carnival queen along with a youth extravaganza. On 27 April, here will be an international show which will be an R&B/ Reggae concert. On 28 April, calypso finals will be organized. On 29th, Jouvert Morning will be observed along with a second international show which will be a Latin concert.
On 30th, there will be a Children’s Parade along with the Grand Carnival Parade. The Children’s Parade will start from Celebration palace while the adult parade will begin at St. Johns Estate. The adult parade will reach Le Grand Marché, when the parades will be combined into a single parade on route to Philipsburg and towards the Festival Village. The parade on the second day will start from the Post Office situated on the Walter Nisbeth Road. On 2nd May, the third, and also the final international show, will be held which is a soca concert. On May 3, the carnival closes. King Momo will be burned this day.
This year, the biggest festival on St Maarten celebrated their 41th anniversary. As usual, this year’s carnival at St Maarten was little bit different and also more stunning than used to be ever. Each and every event included in this carnival took place at Phillipsburg which is renowned by the name festival village and is located right beside to the St marten University.
This year, this event lasted for 19 days which were electrifying and full of merriment and joyful atmosphere scattered at every corner.
